"I think about that kind of love as we increase in altitude. How may it doesn't just stand for romance--- maybe it works for friendship, too. Maybe there's a kind of friend love that opens you up... Maybe you didn't have a place for it within you before, but once it finds you out, crawls inside, and makes space for itself, you can't live without it ever again."
Those wise words I found at the back of the novel named 'this adventure ends'. What a unique title that the writer does not use the capital letters. Emma Mills is a youtuber and a writer who writes this novel. She describes the unpredictable things to each chapter inside the novel which I really enjoy.
Sloane is the main character of this novel. She has just moved and is asked to attend a party and she is introduced to Gabe, Vera, Remy, Aubrie and Frank by Bree. Some of them are from the same school. At first, Sloane thinks that she won't fit with the school and the situation. She keeps thinking that it is quite hard to find the closest friend.
Sloane is a book lover. Her father is a famous writer. They connect well. Her father asks her to read his finished and unfinished novel and help him to give the feedback. Some of the novels have been published and filmed with a famous star in the United State. Sloane has complete and nice family.
Vera and Gabe, Sloane new friends, connect with Sloane after some discussion and hangout activities after the funny situation at Sloane's first party. They both spend time together until one occasion makes their relationship become tighter. Sloane finds out that Vera and Gabe's mom is the famous painter and Gabe lose his and Vera's favorite painting called The Dream.
Sloane has no idea what kind of feeling until she wants to help them to find the painting even if she has to pay high for it. The adventure starts here and Sloane finds out everything she has never thought before, especially about friendship. Sloane enjoys the adventure though there are some obstacle she experiences.
They way Emma describes the characters is detailed. I love how she describes the characters in detail, for example about Sloane's sister who likes to collect favorite things in a memory book. It is a usual thing that some people, especially me, do not think it will be written as a character habit.
I enjoy the book because for each chapter, Emma as the writer, doesn't write a long page of each chapter. She can just write for 4 to 7 pages long for each chapter. Emma also gives a good message or quote at the end of each chapter and my favorite quote is from Sloane's Dad,
"Sloane, I've written a lot about love. I have written tomes about love. But... in real life.. I don't know if I can explain it. You just... know it, when it happens. Or maybe it happens without your conscious thought and you just... realize it, later."
